2025 Spring Seminar – New Energy Codes and Toronto Green Standard V4 (including a review of Bird-Friendly Requirements) and Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) and Future Energy Codes

Our 2025 spring seminar was held on April 10, 2025, at Richmond Hill Country Club. This well-attended event explored three key topics shaping the future of building sustainability:

  1. New Energy Codes and Toronto Green Standard V4: A detailed look at the latest energy code updates and how they are specifically aligned with the Toronto Green Standard V4, including compliance strategies and the impact on future building projects.
  2. Bird-Friendly Requirements in Toronto Green Standard V4: An overview of the new bird-friendly design guidelines introduced in the latest version of the Toronto Green Standard, aimed at protecting local bird populations while achieving sustainable building design.
  3. Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) and Future Energy Codes: A deep dive into the technology of Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) – what it is, how it works, and why it will be crucial in meeting the upcoming energy code standards.

SPEAKERS:

Jason Blush, Advanced IG Product Manager, Guardian Glass. Jason Blush is the Advanced IG Product Manager for Guardian Glass. With over 17 years in the building products industry delivering innovative solutions tailored to customer needs, Jason Blush is a seasoned leader in the field. Jason is the holder of 23 patents in a range of topics including novel high-temperature superalloys used in plane engines to groundbreaking spacer materials for Vacuum Insulated Glass.

Andrew Dolphin, General Manager of Glass Operations, BVGlazing Systems. Andrew Dolphin has been in the glazing industry for over 20 years, first with Trulite and then at Sherwood Windows. For the last seven years, he has been managing glass operations at BVGlazing Systems. He is the current Vice President of the Ontario Glass and Metal Association and holds a Certified Technical Representative designation from CSC Toronto.

Tuan Tran, Regional Architectural Manager | East, Guardian Glass. Tuan Tran is the Regional Architectural Manager overseeing the Guardian Glass East Region Architectural team that works closely with architects, designers, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders in the construction industry to understand their project needs, present glazing design solutions, and provide specification guidance. blank
