OGMA Newsletter – March 2025
The Ontario Glass & Metal Association is excited to be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year! As we reflect on our journey and look ahead to the future, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all our members, both past and present. Your support has been essential to our success, and we couldn’t have achieved this milestone without you. We’ve come a long way, and we’re excited to make this our best year yet.
Nominations for the 2025 OGMA Awards for Excellence are now open. The awards recognize outstanding work in glass and metal construction in Ontario. There are two awards: one for excellence in execution and one for excellence in design. Visit ogma.ca/award-for-excellence-in-design-and-execution/ for a full list of criteria and to download the nomination form. Nominations close on March 28, 2025, with the awards being presented at Top Glass Conference and Exhibits on April 30, 2025. Winners will also have their submissions promoted on our website and social media pages. To nominate yourself or another project participant, email Steven Peso at speso@tremco.ca. Our 2024 award winners were Diamond Schmitt for their design work on Robarts Common in Toronto, and Applewood Glass for execution on the Escarpment House in the Niagara Region.
We would like to welcome Steve Legg as the newest member of our board, and welcome back April Donvito, who returns after a brief hiatus. For 2025, the Board of Directors consists of Blake Sanders, President; Andrew Dolphin, Vice President; Steven Ringler, Past President; Keith Elmer, Treasurer; and Steve Peso, John Rania, Robert Maggiacomo, Yoga Arulnamby, and Heather Sakai, Directors. Our administrator is Lori Brooks. We are currently looking for additional energetic industry players to join the Board for 2025. Please contact any current board member for further information or email info@ogma.ca.
The 2025 OGMA membership campaign is now underway. Please be on the lookout for your membership package, which would have arrived by mail in January. If you did not receive your package, are interested in joining the association, or are looking for more information, please email info@ogma.ca.
We are very excited about our upcoming second annual Members’ Meet-and-Greet event! Last year’s event was a fun-filled evening at Long Shots in Etobicoke. This year the OGMA will be hosting an axe-throwing event in early March. We encourage our members to attend this fantastic networking opportunity.
OGMA is pleased to announce that it has renewed its strategic partnership with the Toronto Chapter of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC). In April, OGMA and CSC plan to host a joint seminar at the Toronto Cricket Club, with a goal of fostering collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between our organizations. We hope you had a chance to stop by our table at CSC Building Expo 2025 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in February.
The OGMA Spring Golf Tournament is scheduled to be held on June 12, 2025. The venue is still being confirmed. We encourage industry members to join us and kick off the summer in style! The day promises to be packed with fun and, as always, lunch, golf (with cart), and dinner are included in tournament fees. The annual OGMA Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the tournament. The tournament also provides several excellent sponsorship opportunities that help companies to promote themselves to the industry. Details for tournament registration will be sent out soon.
What’s next? We look forward to seeing everyone at Top Glass Conference and Exhibits, being held on April 30, 2025, at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. We are also planning our next seminar, which will be a great educational and networking opportunity. Watch your inbox and our LinkedIn page for more information to come.
As always, if you have any ideas for seminars, educational sessions, or networking opportunities, or would like to arrange a plant tour that could be of benefit to our members, please reach out to info@omga.ca. Don’t forget to watch your inbox or visit ogma.ca to keep up to date on association happenings.
