Golf Tournament. The OGMA Fall Golf Tournament was held on September 14, 2023, at the Woodington Lake Golf Club in Tottenham, Ontario. We had a good turnout for the tournament, and the course staff and food were top notch. The weather was lovely, which helped to highlight the beauty of the course. As always, we’d like to express our appreciation for all our tournament sponsors who helped us to make the event a success, including our Trophy-Level Sponsor Yarlmetal Fabricators Inc., and Birdie-Level Sponsors Alcurv Canada Inc., Alumicor Limited, Commdoor Aluminum, Imagic Glass, Ontario Glass Werx Inc., Rimac Fabricators Ltd., SBMS, SpandrelTech Ltd., Tremco, Trulite Glass & Aluminum Solutions, and Vicone Custom Rubber Parts.
Fall Bursary Award Winner. The Ontario Glass & Metal Association and the Architectural Glass & Metal Contractors Association (AGMCA) are pleased to announce that Jason Szabo was awarded the joint $1,000 fall bursary award, which was presented to Jason at the Fall Golf Tournament. Jason was selected as award recipient based on his positive attitude to learn the trade and his willingness to help tutor other apprentices with their work assignments. His instructors, James Clifford and Mike Pentz, noted that he was a pleasure to work with and recognized him for completing the advanced class with a 93.81 grade average. Congratulations, Jason, on being selected by your instructors as the Glazing Apprentice Honor Student for the fall 2023 term.
2024 Awards for Excellence. Although we’ve barely entered the fall season, it’s time to start thinking about your potential candidate projects for the 2024 OGMA Awards for Excellence. Nominations for the awards do not open until early January but we encourage our members to start thinking about current or recent projects that you may wish to put forward for consideration in the new year, keeping in mind the perspectives of Design and Execution.
Update on the Board of Directors. Change is a part of life, and we unfortunately have to say goodbye to the following members of the Board of Directors, who have or will be stepping down from the Board this year: Frank Fulton, Brian Wiles, Steve Gusterson, April Donvito, and Mahendra Ojha. We appreciate everything you have all done over the years and would like to take this time to recognize the time you spent volunteering for the association and its members.
What’s next? We look forward to seeing everyone next year at the tenth annual Top Glass Conference and Exhibits, being held on April 17, 2024. We are planning to host our first members’ meet-and-greet following the conference, which will provide a great networking opportunity. We will keep you posted in the new year as plans are formalized.
